The Ballarat Community Events Calendar opens with 42 listed activities between 12 July and 2 August.

July listings matter now because winter school holidays end on 12 July and families seek low-cost local options before the August rates notices arrive.

Venues hosting this month

Sturt Street Market runs each Saturday from 9am to 1pm between Doveton Street and Lydiard Street, with stall fees capped at $45 for Ballarat City Council residents. The Wendouree Community Centre on Norman Street offers free drop-in craft sessions on Tuesdays at 10.30am for seniors and a paid robotics workshop for ages 8-12 on 19 July costing $12 per child.

Numbers and dates to note

Last July the same calendar recorded 5,812 total attendances across 38 events, according to council figures released in December. Entry to the Lake Wendouree twilight walk on 25 July is set at $8 for adults and free for children under 12, with tickets available only through the council website until 22 July.

Residents can download the updated calendar from the Ballarat City Council site or collect printed copies at the Town Hall on Sturt Street before the next print run on 18 July.
