Federation University and Aiculus run the annual Ballarat Cybersecurity Survey to track local business preparedness, with the 2025 report released in October 2025. The city also offers the Certificate III in Information Technology (Basic Cyber Security Awareness) and seven other beginner-level courses with no mandated prior experience. BSides Ballarat, scheduled for February 28 to March 1 in 2026 at the Emerging Technologies Hub, covers career entry, network security and Capture the Flag competitions aimed at young people. MRE 2026 will again focus on advanced malware analysis at the same venue.
